"FAT HALLIES" - Sep 2022

Stef and Jun wanted a break-out office space and our SAM10 model was the perfect solution.  Access to the backyard was limited, but luckily with the help of family and friends unloading and carrying all logs etc into the backyard was done quite quickly.  The cabin was named after Stef's cat "Fat Hallies"

Foundations - Steel Base and

"TERMIFLOOR" 19mm T&G

Stef and Jun's backyard had a bit of a slope in it, necessitating the use of a slightly raised steel base.

These bases not only create a solid foundation platform for the cabin, they also insulate the cabin from ground moisture and allow easy visual inspection to ensure termites can not get into your cabin!

Your cabin will come with chunky treated pine base beams that are placed directly on to the steel "C" purlins, secured with gal steel angle brackets.

The final levelling can be done later using the height adjustable post stumps.

Window Positioning - in ANY wall!

We worked hard with our manufacturer to ensure that it is technically possible to install the window supplied in ANY of the three walls!! And yes - this includes the rear gable wall!

For Stef and Jun the choice was easy, as their new "FAT HALLIES" cabin is positioned in the rear left corner of their backyard, the window had to go into the right hand side wall - no problem!

You can also order additional windows if you like, to get even more daylight into your new log cabin, please contact us to check availability and pricing.

Timber Preservatives - CUTEK Oil with "Gold Tone" Stain

It is of utmost importance to protect your new cabin from the harsh elements.

Applying a wood preservative oil with your personal choice of stain really makes the grain of the timber come out, and simply looks great.

The first coast should be applied as soon as possible after the build is finished, the second coat within a few days after.  Stef and Jun were straight on to painting the inside and oiling the outside - the results speak for themsleves!

A little tip - when oiling or painting the doors, pull out the rubber seals first and re-install these after painting or oiling, this will make for a very neat finish with no "cutting in" efforts!

A Log Cabin in your Backyard...

Whatever your reason for erecting a log cabin / garden shed at your place - you will not be disappointed!

The internal space will be larger than you think it will be, the smell of the pine timber when you walk in is noticable for many years, and your neighbors will envy you!

There are more uses for these cabins than we can possibly list here - we have sold these as professional therapy rooms, teenagers break-outs, home offices (and LOTS of them!), tinkering sheds, hobby rooms, bee keepers honey processing rooms (yeap, you read correctly),  party rooms, for hobby and collectable purpoeses, games rooms and the list grows every day!

The beauty of these "sheds" (they are so much more than that!!) is simply - well, in their beauty... they are relatively cheap, quick to put up, and will increase the value of your property by far more than they cost initially.

Plus you can put these up yourself, a very rewarding project that can be undertaken by anyone with basic mechanical skills.
